Business Law Clerkship Opportunities for Diverse Law Students

The Business Law Diversity Clerkship Program encourages students to pursue business court clerkship opportunities and to consider careers in the practice of business law. In considering a student's diversity, the Section will give special consideration to individuals who have overcome social or economic disadvantages such as physical disability, financial constraints, or cultural impediments to becoming a law student.

The objectives of the Program include:

• To encourage more diverse law students to apply for clerkship positions

• To foster relationships between business court judges and diverse law students

• To provide students with a foundation in various aspects of business law
Up to nine interns will be given a summer stipend of $6,000 and placed in business court clerkships in the Philadelphia Commerce Court or the Delaware Court of Chancery. Other possible internship locations include New York and Florida.

All application materials must be received on or before Friday, January 29, 2010. For more information about the Business Law Diversity Clerkship Program, check your FCSL email.

All nine organizations in the National Pan-Hellenic Council will be at the University of Florida performing at the annual “Battle of the Greeks" Step Show in two weeks. Most of the chapters at UF are recruited to travel around the country for their creative and engaging performances. (In Spring 2009, Deltas and Kappas won the Sunshine State Classic, Iotas won BET's Spring Bling Step Off, etc).

Additionally, most of the chapters have, within the past 4 years, or currently are holding the award for “Chapter of the Year” for their respective organizations. Needless to say, these chapters are all great representations of their organizations. The battle was close, but Alpha Phi Alpha and Delta Sigma Theta took the title for best Fraternity and Sorority, respectively, last year.

I hope many of you will join me in returning to my alma mater and enjoy a day of entertainment, high competition and fellowship; after BLSA’s Mock Final, of course. If you are interested in going, I would advise you to secure your ticket as soon as possible; tickets sold out last year.

List of Perfomers:
Alpha Phi Alpha (Theta Sigma Chapter)
Alpha Kappa Alpha (Iota Lambda Chapter)
Kappa Alpha Psi (Zeta Phi Chapter)
Omega Psi Phi (Omicron Zeta Chapter)
Delta Sigma Theta (Lambda Psi Chapter)

Phi Beta Sigma (Zeta Kappa Chapter)
Zeta Phi Beta (Mu Epsilon Chapter)
Sigma Gamma Rho (Lambda Rho Chapter)
Iota Phi Theta (Gamma Omicron Chapter)

Thank you and GO GATORS!
